Military Weight Tickets You must provide blank and complete weight tickets for reimbursement of military movements. Find out how much the ticket weighs... so you've got permanent change of station (PCS) orders and the possibility of moving across the country. Maybe it's the first time, maybe the tenth. There are a number of ways you can go from complete home goods moves, personal purchase moves (PPM), also known as do-it-yourself (DITY) moves, and partial PPM or partial DITY moves.
A partial DITY or partial PPM allows you to transport some of your household goods and let a government-purchased mover ship the rest. Your weight allowance is split between partial DITY and government measures. The moving agency provides a list of items prohibited from moving (construction equipment, boats, airplanes), which are usually added to increase the weight of the move. Weighs the vehicle empty and then full. On completion, present the fuel and toll receipts, weight tickets and travel claims to the delivery office along with the orders. This method allows you to access household items on the go. This can help you settle in quickly while you wait for the rest of your household goods or your base house.
Weighing Empty And Full
When moving government-provided household goods, formally known as a do-it-yourself (DITY) move, the Household Goods Office or Traffic Management Office (TMO) will help manage it. The service does everything from packing your china cabinets and clothes to trucking them in and helping you pick them up when you arrive. All you have to worry about is arriving at your new location in time to meet the movers. It's a great option for those short on time or patience, but if you've ever used a mover, you know the risk of broken or lost items and little control over when items arrive. This option costs nothing and is very convenient.
For full DITY or PPM move, you can arrange the move with Home Goods Office or TMO. First, you weigh the vehicle and move the truck or trailer empty. Once you've packed and loaded everything, you'll weigh it again on a TMO scale or certified truck scale. Baggage weight determines how much compensation you will receive in your travel claim. Once you've arrived and unpacked, present your gas and mileage receipts, weight tickets and approved travel documents provided by the Home Goods Office or TMO.
You will then receive a substantial compensation of 95% of what you paid a private mover to move for you. This is a great option for members who have the time and patience to pack and move their own belongings, with the benefit of actually earning money on the trip once the travel claim is approved. You can also ask for a down payment so that you are not out of pocket during the process.
Once you have received your order and decided on the type of movement you want, you should contact the shipping office. To request a partial DITY move, contact your local transportation office and submit the request by completing DD Form 2278, Rehabilitation and Counseling Checklist. You'll also need to have on hand:

Also, make sure your vehicle has a current safety and readiness inspection to avoid getting stuck on the road. Make sure items fit in your vehicle or trailer and that the items you need are within easy reach.

You must submit your claim and all relevant paperwork within 45 days. If you miss 45 days, you will not receive compensation, and as anyone who has been in the military can tell you, that is a huge loss. Submit your claim at the delivery office of your new duty station and bring the following:
